Build Big
Build Big: Fall/Winter 2023
Instructor: Julia Haft-Candell

The scale of your artwork shouldn’t be limited by kiln size.
Making modular sculpture is an accessible and sustainable approach for working in large-scale. In this course you will learn methods of building large-scale ceramic sculpture including historic and contemporary techniques, as well as conceptual and political implications of building in parts.
Over the course of 5 class meetings you will build a tall sculpture in at least 2 parts. No prior ceramics experience is required. All are encouraged to apply.
There are 5 spaces open for each of the sessions. To apply, fill out the application form and choose your preferred session.

The Emergent Scholarship is aimed at providing free build big courses for future Infinite School students with the ultimate goal of increasing the ratio of scholarship vs full-tuition students 2:1. The fund seeks to cultivate a community of artists beyond institutional models and promote democratized access to ceramic education that is not contingent on finances, space, or equipment.
