Build Big

Build Big Spring 2021

Instructor: Julia Haft-Candell

The scale of your artwork shouldn’t be limited by kiln size. Making modular sculpture is an accessible and sustainable approach for working in large-scale. In this course we will learn methods of building large-scale ceramic sculpture including historic and contemporary techniques, and the concept and politics of parts and seams.

Over the course of 5 class meetings you will build a tall sculpture in at least 2 parts. No prior ceramics experience is required. All are encouraged to apply. All recommended social distance protocols will be followed; masks are required and classes will be held outdoors.

There are 4 spaces open for each section. To apply, fill out the application form . Submissions reviewed until filled
