Build Big

Build Big Fall 2021

Instructor: Julia Haft-Candell

The scale of your artwork shouldn’t be limited by kiln size. Making modular sculpture is an accessible and sustainable approach for working in large-scale. In this course you will learn methods of building large-scale ceramic sculpture including historic and contemporary techniques, as well as conceptual and political implications of building in parts.

Over the course of 5 class meetings you will build a tall sculpture in at least 2 parts. No prior ceramics experience is required. All are encouraged to apply.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.

There are 5 spaces open for the fall section.  To apply, fill out the application form . Deadline for submissions is September 20.

The class meets the following Tuesday evenings from 6-9pm: October 5, October 12, October 19, October 26 and November 2.

Tuition is $750 including materials and firing.
