BUILD BIG
Fall/Winter 2024

The scale of your artwork shouldn’t be limited by kiln size

Location: The Infinite School - Glassell Park, Los Angeles.

Making modular sculpture is an accessible and sustainable approach for working in large-scale. In this course you will learn methods of building large-scale ceramic sculpture including historic and contemporary techniques, as well as conceptual and political implications of building in parts.

Over the course of 5 class meetings you will build a tall sculpture in at least 2 parts. No prior ceramics experience is required. All are encouraged to apply.

Enrollment is limited to 6 students per session.

Tuition is $1,650 including materials, firing, and optional open studio hours. In addition, you will also become part of an active alumni network.

Installment payments and scholarships are available.
Deadline to apply for a scholarship is August 30th.

The Emergent Scholarship: The Emergent Scholarship provides full tuition for Build Big. The fund seeks to cultivate a community of artists beyond institutional models and promote democratized access to ceramic education that is not contingent on finances, space, or equipment.

Priority is given to QTBIPoC.

Work-Study Discount: Work-study recipients will help set up, clean up, load and unload kilns, discounting tuition to $1,050.
