DEMYSTIFYING GLAZE

In this introductory course we will discuss the history of glaze, its color, function, and chemistry.

Location: The Infinite School - Glassell Park, Los Angeles.



Over the course of this one-day workshop, we will look at surface vs form, and how these variables affect the way your work conveys information within the context of ceramic history, as well as the broader contemporary art world. You will learn how to mix your own low-fire and mid-range glazes, as well as basics of glaze chemistry and and firing electric kilns.

No prior ceramics experience is required, and all are encouraged to apply.

Classes will be held at The Infinite School in Glassell Park, Los Angeles.  
Enrollment is limited to 8 students.

Now offering sliding scale tuition, and an option for installment payments.

Tuition covers materials, firings, and an informational zine with glaze recipes.

Sliding scale rates range from $550-850. If you can pay more, please do! Your generosity keeps The Infinite School accessible to lower income students. In your application, please note which rate you are applying for.

There will be an optional second day to come back to the studio and pick up test tiles, discuss results. To be scheduled before start of workshop.
